How Long Do You Wait To Solve Marketing Problems?

If symptoms persist, please see a doctor. marketing reviews solve problems

No doubt, you have seen these on packs of cold remedies.

There are there for legal reasons and these products are designed to relieve symptoms only.

They don’t cure serious problems.

When sales are down at first you may think it is a blip and you hope this symptom goes away soon.

In some cases, it does after you take certain actions that have worked out in the past.

Or try something new.

In other cases, the symptoms continue regardless of what you try.

Solve the problem

Taking the cold problem if the symptoms get worse such as developing a congested cough you can hope it goes away or realise this could be more than a simple virus. And a trip to the doctor is needed to get you feeling well again.

The same goes with your business, if sales are continuing down you can hope that somehow they will bounce back.  Or you look at what is really the cause of the problem to find a solution.

For example you may find that you business is not getting repeat sales. This leads to see why not. Have your customers gone to the dark side and started buying your competitor’s product or service. Or are there other reasons?

The quicker you identify the causes of the problem the simpler it is to take action. The longer you put up with worsening symptoms the more difficult it can be to get your business back on track.

Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all approach to marketing problems. However, there are solutions that best suit you, your business and customers.

Also, it is always good to remember a problem today could turn out to be a big opportunity to grow your business.

Over to you, do you have a process in place to isolate problems and find solutions quickly to grow your business?

In the world of acquiring customers, it’s all about watching for those sighs when something good happens or there is a decline. It truly takes constant vigilance to be aware of the ebs and flow of a business versus anomalies that need attention, good or bad.

In my new world it’s about bounce rate. traffic patterns and subscriber. All this, together, paints a picture that can help me make good decisions for the future. :-)

  5. Susan — I think one thing most of us don’t do is ask our clients for feedback. How am I doing? Maybe there is simmering dissatisfaction and you haven’t picked up the cues. We may not like to get a negative review, but it’s important to get on track with the client and rectify the problems you uncover.

I sure wasn’t responsive to issues on my last blog because I couldn’t control the design as I had hired someone to do it… beginner mistake! Since then, I’ve switched over to WordPress but now I’ve lost my search traffic! Oh well, I’ll keep pluggin away and trying to convince Google I’m worth it :)

Hindsight is wonderful isn’t it Dan :) I am sure Google will wake up and give your blog traffic love soon. I don’t have expertise on websites but have you thought of having someone who is to see if there is a simple solution to your loss of search traffic?

Yes Susan, the sooner you do something the better. But first you have to find out what the problem is.

Let’s take Blackberry as an example. They were considered the ultimate mobile phone and were selling like hotcakes. Loved my Blackberry in the Middle East and didn’t think it could get any better.

But it could. When Apple released the iPhone customer opted for it and Blackberry was suddenly considered a thing of the past and old fashioned.

So Blackberry hired some Swedish technicians who came up with a new phone that has just been released and Alicia Keys is promoting it. Let’s see what happens? At least Blackberry understood what the problem was and took steps to remedy it. Will they succeed? The future will tell:-)

  8. Hi Susan,
I think it’s important to look at your marketing and sales historically. In other words, have you traditionally had low sales this time of year? If so, don’t freak out. On the other hand, you should also be looking at your sales to see if there has been a steady drop off, no matter how small. If your sales are slowly going down, it is time to worry and something needs to change.
