If you work in a large company as a marketer you never launch a product, project or campaign by yourself.

You gather a team around you and although you may be the project leader and have the responsibility, there is no way success could occur if you did not have the friendly co-operation and input of others.

The interesting part of a team project is the different members representing each department.

Different Qualities, Ideas and Expertise

For example you may have a person from production, purchasing, engineering, sales, finance, research and development, IT working on a project with you.

All bring something to the group and together you can overcome the hurdles or puzzles that you will always face in business.

The team also helps you capitalise on opportunities that you could not do on your own.

As a small business many of you are working on your own. For a launch or project you may outsource some of the activities but you often are a team of one.

That is tough.

Bring Others on Board

If you look at your network are they from different fields?

Is there expertise that you could tap into?

For example, people in your network may have backgrounds and expertise in finance, creative, sales, technology, customer service, legal, marketing or market research that could help your business.

Gaining input from members of your network online and offline can open up solutions to problems or highlight opportunities that you may not have thought of. This can be on a regular basis, a brainstorming session or for a specific project.

As they are not as close to your business as you are, they will look at the project, problem or opportunity differently which may be just what you need to be more successful.
