When you are busy, it is easy to let things slip.
You may put information on post it notes, or in a notebook.
This complicates running your business. And opportunities may be missed.
Especially if one of your objectives is to retain customers.
This happened to one small business owner. She was busy with new customers had information on the customers in emails, post it notes, a notebook and scrapes of paper.
Naturally, when sales slowed, she thought about contacting past customers, but the information was everywhere.
So nothing happened.
The secret has been around for hundreds of years and has nothing to do with marketing strategies and tactics.
It is about being organised. It is one of the elements of simplicity to grow your business.
That is half the battle whether you want to spend less time cleaning your home, shopping for groceries or in this case getting customers to keep buying.
If you are busy and have not taken the time to get organised then you are left with an ad hoc approach. If you are organised it allows you to be proactive and frees up your time and increases sales.
Have a database
There are many software products on the market that are not expensive. By having all the information in one place you can see what is important to your customers and your business.
The better information you have simplifies the communication and helps strengthen the relation.
For example with the small business owner as her products are bought for different occasions, she would have known when they were coming up again such as birthdays.
A simple email with suggestions, prices leading up to that date would have increased sales. Instead, she got a call from one customer and had only three days to make and deliver the product.
It didn’t happen as she too many orders unfortunately to deliver. Missed opportunity that she will not be making again.
Even if you only have a few customers, it saves you relying on your memory or finding that post it note that is somewhere on your desk.
One thing I have learned over the many years in business and marketing is if you are organised that is half the battle. Simplifying your processes and using the right tools can help retain customers and get business growth.
Over to you: do you have a database and use crm software? If you do share how you use it to keep customers buying from your business.
